March of the Fuckheads
My eyes just rolled writing that headline. The fact that it has two stars in my iTunes library says a lot.
Despite having listened to thousands of hours of Nine Inch Nails, I am actually not a huge fan of Trent Reznor as a person. I have not met him. I’ve “only” seen NIN live four times. All of which were after With Teeth.
I think Trent Reznor is a talented musician. I think he could be considered a type of musical genius, even though it’s really easy to throw that term out there in a meaningless way. (Philip Glass is a genius.)
I’m actually just not that into Reznor. I am very, very happy that he has a wife and kid now. I think that says a lot about the guy. I’ve been very self-centered. All day I’ve written about NIN as if the music was something inside of me. If there’s only one guy that music came from inside of it’d be Trent, and he’s clearly had a lot more of whatever I was feeling, or he is just that good at describing the human condition.
