Mr. Self Destruct
This sounds totally unlike anything I had ever heard before. It just hit me. So many sounds that weren’t music. Sure, there’s guitars, drums, synths, but then everything sounds unlike itself. Then layer in so much else.
Content of the song is deep and honest unlike anything I could remember, either. The thing that’s happening is inside me and I can’t help it.
I would contrast this to Megadeth’s Sweatin’ Bullets or old school Ozzy where the music alludes to a type of madness that presents itself in a way that the audience can relate to as empowering. “Hey, I’m going crazy here! And being crazy means I can do all types of things.”
No. Mr. Self Destruct gives us no hope. The only way out of this is very bad.
