Bose has awesome customer service. I bought a pair of QC15s at the Bose kiosk at the Las Vegas airport. Most of my five hour flight home they worked fine. Alas, about 20 minutes before landing there was a strange popping static in the right headphone, followed by a lot of white noise.

My headset had broken within the first six hours of use.

I went to the Bose store and explained the situation bringing along the headset, my receipt, and the original box. The sales guy listened, tested the headset, and then said, “that’s not right. Let me get you a new one from the back.”

Within ten minutes I had a new headset.

That’s how you run a business.

Meetings

If Michelangelo was alive today would he be wasting all his time in meetings?

“I can’t finish David because the Pope wants to concall about the Sistine project. I swear that guy just doesn’t know when to shut up. He thinks he’s the voice of God on Earth.”

Limits

I love pop physics. Somehow our universe is a 17 dimensional projection off of a 2D spheroid creating time-travelig subatomic all of which is a membrane that floats along with other membranes in a multiverse.

I also love the discrete limits of the universe. You can’t take any distance and divide it by half an infinite number of times. There’s a physical limit in scale: the planck length. Likewise, you can’t take any speed and double it infinitely, the speed of light is as fast as anything can travel.

Imagine this. You don’t have a job title. You don’t have an institutionalized position of responsibility. Imagine your entire job performance is based on what you do.

Now, what is your real job?

Sunday morning. I’m trying to take it easy. There are so many things I need to do that it’s becoming hard to take a few hours to avoid them all.

I actually submitted this bug report to Apple. The browser image drag behavior needs to be restored in Mac OS 10.6
Dragging a photo from a browser window into Address Book’s contact custom image icon causes Address Book to fail to add any further custom images until Quit/Relaunch.
Step 1. Launch any browser along with Address Book 5.0 (862).
Step 2. Using Address Book, click the Edit button of a selected Contac
Step 3. Drag an image from web browser to the custom image icon in Address Book.
 Results:

Address Book fails to change image.
Choosing any other method to change custom image will now always fail. (E.g. dragging from Finder or selecting “Choose Custom Image…” from the Card men

Expected Result:
Custom image sheet appears allowing user to scale and set custom image. Notes: I already reported a separate bug on why dragging and dropping images out of browsers in broken in 10.6 and sucks donkey balls with great frequency and amplitude. Feel free to check the comments section on my blog.

Notes From a Tech Lifestyle

Keeping Track of Friends’ Blogs

I turned off RSS notifications in Safari because they were too distracting. I use Fever° to filter my RSS worldview into something manageable.

The problem was that I do want to know when my closest friends update their content right away but without using a dedicated RSS reader (another distraction).

So, I opted to turn on Mail.app’s RSS streams. It lets me keep close contact with friends but without adding extra mental overhead to my workspace. I always thought Mail.app’s RSS features were superfluous. Now, I’m not so sure.

Consolidating iTunes

I finally consolidated my music into a single, über iTunes library.

I was surprised to see that after consolidating and removing duplicates from my three machines I had “only” 46 GB of music I actually listen to.

I think it’s reasonable that we’ll have iPhones that have that much space.

Editorial Note

This is now my diary.

I will no longer make this Tumblr stream a dumping ground of RSS feeds from other forms of social media. I have a FriendFeed for that. If you’re really, really interested in me:

  1. I feel for you, really
  2. My FriendFeed RSS will give you a one-stop shop for all your cyber-stalking

Enjoy!

Highlander Malware:

I NetFlix’d the original Highlander movie. I clicked the web click on the official, unmodified, from-NetFlix DVD. It takes me to the official highlander site.
FAIL.
